Correction of astigmatism with contact lenses.
نویسنده
چکیده
Contact lens correction of astigmatism is reviewed. According to literature data, rigid gas permeable lenses are the lenses of choice in correction of irregular and high astigmatism. The crucial advantage of rigid gas permeable lenses is clear vision and stable correction of astigmatism. Soft toric lenses ensure quick adaptation and comfort. The most prominent disadvantage of soft toric contact lenses is variable visual acuity caused by lens rotation.

Toric Intraocular Lenses for the Correction of Astigmatism
The ideal procedure for the correction of astigmatism should provide: precise and accurate adjustment, safety, predictable outcome, lasting effect and simplicity with an acceptable price. Conventional methods for solving problems such as glasses and/or contact lenses at the present time often do not meet the needs of patients. Whether it is the objective or subjective reasons for a large number...

OBJECTIVES To evaluate success rates in the correction of astigmatism with toric and spherical soft contact lens fitting. METHODS 30 patients with soft toric lenses having more than 1.25 D of corneal astigmatism (25 eyes; Group A) or having 0.75-1.25 D of corneal astigmatism (22 eyes; Group B) and 30 patients with soft spheric lenses having 0.75-1.25 D of corneal astigmatism (28 eyes; Group C...
متن کاملContact Lens Visual Rehabilitation in Keratoconus and Corneal Keratoplasty
Keratoconus is the most common corneal distrophy. It's a noninflammatory progressive thinning process that leads to conical ectasia of the cornea, causing high myopia and astigmatism. Many treatment choices include spectacle correction and contact lens wear, collagen cross linking, intracorneal ring segments implantation and finally keratoplasty. Contact lenses are commonly used to reduce astig...
متن کاملMyopia, Hyperopia and Astigmatism: A Complete Review with View of Differentiation
Nearsighted individuals typically have problems seeing well at a distance and are forced to wear glasses or contact lenses. The nearsighted eye is usually longer than a normal eye, and its cornea may also be steeper. Therefore, when light passes through the cornea and lens, it is focused in front of the retina. This will make distant images appear blurred. There are several refractive surgery s...
متن کاملSoft contact lenses for keratoconus: case report.
PURPOSE Contact lenses have assisted the refractive correction of keratoconus since the 19th century. In these case reports, the authors describe their experience with a new soft contact lens design. METHODS The Soft K is a new soft lens comprising a thick fenestrated design to fit in patients with mild to moderate corneal distortion and fitting problems or physical intolerance to rigid gas-p...
